UPHOLSTERER

Glenwood Draperies is a full service draperies and interior one-stop shop looking to add a full-time upholsterer to their team!  This fantastic opportunity offers group insurance benefits as well as vacation time.  Glenwood Draperies was established in 1951 and are the destination for all interior needs including; sofas and chairs, accent furniture, and they are known for their upholstery department that specializes in restoration of antique and contemporary furniture items. Reporting to the General Manager, this individual will be working in a team with approximately four other individuals.

Responsibilities:

• Operate sewing machines or sew materials and upholstery by hand
• Read work orders and apply knowledge and experience with materials
• Work with and adjust webbing, fabric, padding, springs, etc
• Collaborate with designers
• Design upholstery cover patterns and cutting plans based on sketches, descriptions, or blueprints
• Measure and cut new covering materials
• Discuss upholstery fabric details
• Draw cutting lines on material
• Fit, install, and secure material on frames

Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to sew and cut
• Ability to monitor and assess work quality and performance
• Ability to make improvements or take corrective action
• Experience in determining the types of tools needed to do the job
• Strong manual and finger dexterity
• Flexibility and strength to manipulate and move materials and objects
• Capability of performing repeated movements
• Skill in arranging items and actions in an order or pattern
• Ability to work well within a team
