The Manitoba Metis Federation (MMF) is the self-government representative that promotes the political, social, cultural, and economic interests and rights of the Metis Nation’s Manitoba Metis Community. In addition, the MMF delivers programs and services to our community including: child and family services; justice; housing; youth; education; human resources; economic development and natural resources.

 

The MMF Community Housing Managers of Manitoba (CHMM) Department seeks to fill one full-time Maintenance Assistant position located in Dauphin, MB. The salary will commensurate with qualifications and experience.

 

Maintenance Assistant

 

Under the supervision of the Building Supervisor, the Maintenance Assistant’s function is to maintain and repair all buildings systems which include heating, cooling, plumbing, air conditioning, ventilation, electrical, locks/windows, minor carpentry repairs and up keeping of general office repairs drywall, painting and relocating furniture. The position duties also include all general repairs to all MMF properties and grounds. This position will also provide assistance of coverage to all building operation areas.  He/she will use all equipment and products in accordance with proper procedures and adheres to all safety and health regulations. The incumbent shall report an unsafe or required system repairs to the Building Supervisor. He/she will be required to work flexible hours as needed, including evenings and weekends.

 

Skills and Qualifications:

·         Knowledge of Metis culture

·         Knowledge of MMF programs and services

·         Knowledge of Social Housing issues and programs is a definite asset;

·         Minimum of three years trade experience in building maintenance

·         Fifth class Power Engineer certificate an asset

·         Proven knowledge of Workplace Safety and Health Regulations

·         Knowledge of WHIMS

·         Willing to upgrade skills and education as necessary

·         Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 50lbs

·         Valid Class 5 Manitoba driver’s license
