POSITION: Executive Director
SALARY RANGE: $42,000 to $50,000

The Indian and Metis Friendship Centre - IMFC is Winnipeg's centralized community centre
that provides a variety of social and cultural based services to the Aboriginal community in
a safe and secure environment. The Board of Directors are seeking an Executive Director
with leadership, vision and experience, developing social based programs and managing a
non-profit organization.
GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:
The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors and is responsible for the
operations of IMFC by planning, directing, coordinating and implementing social programs,
including the administration and management of all policies and procedures.
The Executive Director will develop and negotiate programs in support of community needs.
The applicant must have strong political acumen and be able to work with senior City of
Winnipeg, Government of Manitoba and Federal Government representatives concerning
program funding initiatives and responding to emergency situations.
The Executive Director is accountable for the stewardship of day to day operations,
including problem solving, financial management, meeting community needs and Board of
Director's expectations. Previous experience with promoting partnership and cooperation
with both private and non-profit organizations by maintaining a strong working relationship
and communications with all stakeholders within Winnipeg is required.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
• A Business Administration Diploma or a Degree with five years management
experience in an Aboriginal non-profit setting is preferred. Or, a suitable combination
of education and senior management experience will be considered.
• Several years' leadership/management experience with a proven track record for
developing partnerships with a wide array of internal and external stakeholders.
• Strong oral and written communication experiences in preparing reports and the
development of policies and project proposals is required.
• Must be able to facilitate meetings and events.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook and
PowerPoint.
• Must have knowledge of a computerized accounting system, preferably Quick Books.
• Must have a working knowledge of preparing budgets and work plans.
The successful candidate will need to submit proof of education; a valid Manitoba Driver's
License and produce a Criminal Record and Child Abuse Registry Check.
