Public Health Nurse/Wabowden, MB Full-time Indefinate Term (Subject to end with two weeks' notice)

Based in Wabowden, the candidate will be required to travel to communities in northern Manitoba via air, rail, and winter roads. Overnight stays in communities may be required. Candidate is required to have own vehicle or access to a vehicle suitable for the performance of the Public Health Nurse duties and available for use as required.

Position Requirements:

·         Baccalaureate Nursing Degree.

·         Current College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba Registration.

·         Recent community health/public health nursing experience with emphasis on health protection/illness prevention, health promotion and community development is an asset.

·         Maintains clinical skills required for the delivery of Public Health Nursing services as per the practice standards for the specific areas, programs, and services.

·         Have expertise in developing and maintaining excellent working relationships with a broad range of individuals and partner organizations.

·         Demonstrated supervisory skills and ability.

·         Demonstrated ability to work alone and as an effective member of a multi-disciplinary team.

·         Demonstrated ability to foster an interdisciplinary, collaborative environment that supports quality, client interaction and interventions.

·         Excellent organization, communication, leadership and interpersonal skills.

·         Self-directed, adaptable and innovative.

·         Is culturally competent and respectful of diversity (e.g., economic and social status, race, cultures, belief systems, sexuality).

·         Knowledge and respect of Aboriginal Culture and experience in working effectively with First Nations people.

·         Proficient in computer programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Publisher and various databases.

·         Possession of a valid Manitoba Class 5 drivers’ license.

·         Good physical and mental health to meet the demands of the position.

·         Evidence of professional development experiences that are consistent with current public health practice, new and emerging issues, changing needs of the population, evolving impact of the determinants of health and emerging research.

·         Must possess a dependable, consistent and reliable work record including attendance at work.

·         Ability to incorporate BRHA core competencies into working practice (Customer/Client Focused, Initiative & Pro-activity, Diversity Awareness, Teamwork and Collaboration, Development of Self and Others, and Adaptability).

·         Certification in Community Health Nursing through the Canadian Nurses Association.

·         Expectation to complete the skills enhancement modules through the Public Health Agency of Canada.

·         Demonstrated Leadership and have the ability to champion cause or a program.

·         Understanding of change behaviour and developmental theories and the ability to facilitate change.

·         Demonstrated ability to effectively partner and excellent engagement and collaboration skills to achieve outcomes.

·         Has experience supervising staff.
