Controller

On behalf of our client, Vomar Industries Inc., we are recruiting a Controller, located in La Salle, Manitoba. Vomar Industries is a national privately held company servicing retailers across Canada with the Tank Traders BBQ Tank Exchange program. The company's line of business includes the retail sale of bottled or bulk liquefied petroleum gas. They focus on providing premium products, supported by a high level of customer service and thus establishing a nationally recognized brand.

 

Vomar Industries is seeking a well-seasoned and experienced Controller. This is an excellent opportunity for career advancement and growth with the company. Reporting to the President, the Controller is an integral member of the leadership team responsible for the financial strategy and integrity of the organization. The Controller will be responsible for the day-to-day financial activities of the organization including: financial management, accounting, reporting, internal controls, audit and adherence to various regulations, financial planning, analysis, budgeting, forecasting, information systems, business development and strategic planning.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in key company decisions as a member of the corporate team
  • Monitor and direct the implementation of strategic business plans
  • Manage the capital request and budgeting processes for the company
  • Develop and monitor key performance measures that support the company's strategic direction
  • Manage the accounting, finance and treasury, human resource, IT, and legal functions
  • Oversee the financial operations of related companies in the group
  • Manage any third parties to which functions have been outsourced (IT, EDI, etc.)
  • Oversee the company's transaction processing and ERP systems (RMA, Great Plains, Moneris)
  • Manage the development lifecycle of the company’s software and information technology hardware
  • Oversee the financial reporting and issuances of financial information for the corporation
  • Review annual corporate filings (year end, income taxes, bank reporting and reviews, etc.)
  • Report financial results to the President and Corporate Team
  • Oversee the payroll department ensuring processing accuracy, adherence to internal controls, timeliness and compliance with multi-provincial regulations
  • Oversee the company RRSP and health and benefit plans
  • Implement operational best practices

 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Professional accounting designation (CA, CMA or CGA) is required
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in senior accounting and finance roles with progressive experience in accounting
  • Knowledge and experience managing the production of annual budgets, forecasts and cost accounting analysis
  • Experience providing financial analysis for capital investments, pricing decisions and contract negotiations
  • Background in working in a manufacturing environment is an asset
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced growth environment and lead growth management initiatives
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and keen adaptability to a dynamic, changing environment
  • Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships with internal and external parties and lead with credibility, integrity and trust while achieving results and fostering a positive team culture
  • Definite business presence complemented with personal drive, resourcefulness, maturity, honesty and integrity and sound business judgment
