Lead Water and Wastewater Operator - Days

The R.M of Headingley is ready to bring on a Level 3 Lead Water/Wastewater Treatment Operator to direct, monitor and coach other operators as the current Plant Manager plans his retirement for next summer.  You will have the opportunity to learn from a seasoned veteran, in a brand new Class 3 wastewater treatment plant!

Key responsibilities:

  • All aspects of operation and maintenance of a level 3 SBR MWWTP as per license issued by MCWS.
  • Use your technical expertise and leadership abilities, to effectively assign and monitor tasks while providing troubleshooting support, coaching and feedback to the Operations team. 
  • Make recommendations on improvements to plant operations.
  • Oversee day-to day activities of other operators, including adequate supplies and chemicals are available for optimal plant performance.
  • Complete maintenance of all equipment, scheduling other operators on maintenance and contractors.
  • Ensure regular compilation, analysis and interpretation of operational and technical data and statistics for evaluating performance with respect to quality, productivity, efficiency and safety.
  • Prepare and submit reports to regulating authorities to ensure compliance with operating permits issued by regulatory bodies.
  • Ensure all significant operational events as well as daily operational activities are recorded properly and communicated well.
  • Prepare annual budgets and schedules

Education and Experience:

  • Level II Wastewater Operator Certification, and the ability to obtain Level III Certification with 12 months.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the operation of a Class 1 or higher facility
  • Previous experience with Biological Nutrient Removal (BNR)
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting WW systems failures
  • Familiar with SCADA and PLC operation or similar
  • Ability to lift 30 kg, be in good health and physically fit
  • Class 5 driver’s license
