Position Overview

The Grain/Commodity Trader buys and sells grain and other crop commodities.

This position sources buyers and sellers, negotiates prices, and negotiates arranges the transportation of the products.

Relationship development and maintenance with buyers and sellers is an important part of the position.

Success is achieved by knowledge of the market and trading, ability to manage a number of pressing matters, ensuring details are addressed (such as contracts and transportations) and enjoyment of the dynamic nature of the work.

This is a new position that is a part of the company's growth strategy.

Working Conditions

Working an energetic Monday to Friday normal business hours will provide the trader with the time required to be successful in the position.

Travel to clients and trade shows is required.

A work station in a positive and natural-light work space close to other traders allows for frequent interaction between the traders.

There is the option of the trader working off location and staying connected with the team virtually.


A minimum of 2 years experience in grain trading/brokering is required.

The best trader will enjoy the activity and nature of the work, and working for an independent company that allows for freedom in trading and making the deals for back-to-back or basis trading.

The trader will also enjoy the variety of the work, and dealing with the full cycle of the transaction.

They will operate strategically within the markets and have a solid understanding of trading in at least one market. If they are newer to trading, they will be willing to learn and develop new markets.

If more experienced in trading, the trader will have a developed portfolio.
