MANITOBA METIS FEDERATION INC. The Manitoba Metis Federation (MMF) is the self-government representative that promotes the political, social, cultural, and economic interests and rights of the Metis Nation’s Manitoba Metis Community. In addition, the MMF delivers programs and services to our community including: child and family services; justice; housing; youth; education; human resources; economic development and natural resources. The MMF Economic Development Department seeks to fill one full-time Director Position located at the Winnipeg Home Office; remuneration is negotiable.
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Economic Development Director shall coordinate the design of a Metis Economic Development Strategy that promotes and upholds economic self-sufficiency, growth and sustainability of the Manitoba Metis Federation and its constituent community. The Director shall coordinate the work of a planning and coordinating committee with other technical representatives and consultants as required. He/she will monitor the success of the department’s endeavours and will ensure the preparation of appropriate documentation and resources as well as provide written and oral progress reports. The Economic Development Director is required to provide overall direction and support to the department staff within the MMF’s policy and guidelines. The Director shall participate in a variety of working groups and deliver presentations at conferences and workshops as required. Extended travel may be required. Skills and Qualifications:
- A degree in Commerce/ Business Administration or related discipline with several years of experience in policy and program development
- A minimum of five (5) years Project Management Experience
- Extensive experience in policy analysis and development of formulating corporate/department goals
- Experience implementing strategies for major projects, developing cost analysis and projections
- Well developed ability to conceptualize, research, organize and implement specific projects
- Knowledge of community economic and business development
- Experience delivering presentations
- Experience preparing reports and budgets
- Knowledge of Metis issues and socio-economic conditions affecting Metis people
- Knowledge of MMF programs, services an asset
