Part-time Security Guard Midnights

Palliser Furniture, Canada’s leading furniture manufacturer is a company committed to providing a safe work environment for its employees.  We are seeking a motivated, professional security officer to work weekends at Palliser’s East Kildonan location off Gateway Road.  The shift is from 11:00 PM Sunday- 7:00 AM Monday and 11:00 PM Monday- 7:00 AM Tuesday.  The successful candidate must also be able to be on call for extra shifts as required.

Skills and abilities required:

·        Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

·        Enjoy working in a multi-cultural team based environment

·        Possess an outstanding customer service attitude

·        Have a mature personality and able to make quick decisions

·        Able to handle stressful situations in a positive and professional manner

·        Experience with MS word an asset (Palliser is willing to train suitable candidate)

·        Security training and/or criminology certificate desirable/required

·        First Aid and CPR an asset (Palliser willing to train suitable candidate)

·        Previous experience in security an asset

·        Must be reliable and punctual

·        Must be able to provide child registry and criminal background checks

·        Must have own vehicle

·        Must possess a current Manitoba Security Guard License

·        Basic computer skills

Duties include:

·        Use of electronic security and computer systems

·        Access control and distribution of shipping documents

·        Ensure reports are written properly and completely

·        Provide safety for all employees and property of Palliser Furniture

·        Conduct foot patrols of internal and external Palliser facilities

·        Promoting all policies and procedures and documenting all incidents

·        Other duties as assigned

Security Officers will deal with confidential issues and may have access to restricted areas after hours. Successful candidates will be required to provide a criminal record check yielding no convictions.
