Purpose of the Position 
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Buyer/Replenisher is responsible for planning and maintaining adequate inventories of production inputs in order to meet the production and plant operation plans, while ensuring cost efficiencies and sound inventory levels. Also responsible for ensuring accurate and effective inventory levels and that product is being effectively received and managed. The Buyer/Replenisher may also negotiates rates with vendors for products not supplied by the company as required, and is responsible for creating and managing purchase orders in accordance with the company's finance process. The Buyer/Replenisher maintains inter-departmental contacts in order to support new product launches, promotions, product delistings, and the acquisition or loss of major customers.

Key Responsibilities
- Work with the corporate purchasing team to develop and maintain inventory levels that will economically and effectively support the production plan within the limitations of the Warehouse storage capacity.
- Responsible for creating and issuing purchase orders for ingredients, packaging, labels and other items that support production and the overall operation of the facility by utilizing existing approved vendors and corporate Buying Programs.
- Responsible for ensuring accurate receiving, invoices and inventory transfers and reconciliations are processed and recorded on a daily basis, and ensuring accurate and timely receipt of product, both physically and in JBA.
- Provide daily feedback to sales, production and operations manager regarding material supply issues and proactively work to minimize impact to operations and the customer.
- Co-ordinate the delivery of ingredients, packaging and other items from supplier to production, and all steps in between, and work with Transportation to effectively manage cost and on time delivery schedules.
- Work with Finance and Purchasing to resolve Purchase Order pricing or quantity issues to support prompt vendor payments.
- Perform regular cycle counts and spot checks as required at all warehouse facilities.
- Participate in and advise on regular inventory process.
- Support operations by providing GMP and Health and Safety audits as requested.
- Support Production team in achieving production objectives while ensuring adherence to quality standards.
- Act as the back-up for the production support role.
- Perform other related duties as required.

Specific Functional/Technical Knowledge and Skills
- No direct accountability 
- Will be responsible to support cost efficiencies in accordance with budget as set by Leadership team.

Other Skills/Competencies/Attributes
- Requires strong oral, written, and communication skills.
- Requires organizational and decision making skills.
- Requires operational knowledge of inventory management software and MS office applications.
- Must be able to work independently or on a team.
- Ability to work under pressures created by conflicting demands and time constraints.
- Ability to work in a food production environment.
- Analytical skill to process and present data and reports for problem solving and management review.
- Bilingualism in English and French or Tagalog is an asset.
- Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Four year college or university in Food Science preferred.
- PMAC designation or in process.
- Completion of the Principle Courses and Management Studies sections of the Certified Professional Purchaser Program.

- 2-5 years experience in a purchasing role with exposure to receiving and reconciling materials, ideally in food environments.
