Junior / Intermediate Web Designer
Projected Start Date: May 15th _ 30 th or can be negotiated for the right Candidate.
With the world of business becoming increasingly electronic, website design has become the preferred method of promoting one’s business. It is a career that is showing little sign of slowing down as thousands of new websites are created each day. Here at Score Advertising, we are approximately 95% web oriented along with traditional services such as in-house print marketing. Since most of our services/products are Internet based, we find ourselves in need of additional Web Design abilities.
Based out of Score Advertising’s office in Winnipeg, Manitoba, the successful candidate will be an essential part of our Internet/Graphics Department. This position will appeal to those who are highly self-motivated, work well as part of a team, and enjoy a diverse work environment. The designer will be working mostly in the front-end design of the presentation layer of websites we develop. Not only will they control the look and feel of the presentation layer we provide our customers but also our own web based products as well.
This position will provide an individual with a great deal of flexibility and input into shaping our internal design area and will be working with our team of developers, other designers, customers and/or sub contractors.

- A Content Management System for small to medium sized businesses allowing them to manage their own individual website content with ease.
- A new product we are launching that allows golfers to search and book tee times throughout the Internet.

As we are a rapidly growing company developing business systems in all areas as well as the graphics and development areas are essential. · Design of internal marketing materials to support our own marketing initiatives including but not limited to trade show booths, outdoor signage, websites and print materials. You want the company you work at to proudly showcase your abilities.
- Ability to work hand in hand with our development team to produce effective designs that can be developed efficiently. We do not create design templates for web sites; each site has its own unique look and feel. Excellence in communicating each companies unique and individual marketing needs is essential. As we proudly work with small to medium sized companies we work under tight budget restrictions. The ability to produce effective, clean, simple designs quickly is essential and a big part of the communications challenge at Score.
- The importance of working as a member of a team to produce solutions can not be understated. Our developers badly want their programming efforts to appear with style. They are a very passionate group who honestly want and need excellent graphic assistance, front-end design along with a positive working environment. As well, the Sales team has a deep appreciation for good graphic design and has learned firsthand the benefits effective design brings to ongoing sales efforts. Additional Available Area of Responsibilities / Input
These duties are flexible and could involve any of the following additional areas based on the candidate’s unique abilities:
- Requirement drawings or screen shot design of general web user interfaces
- A good knowledge of Social Media sites like Twitter, Face Book etc.
- The ability to help the staff generate low quality videos for training and marketing purposes.
- Email template design for email marketing efforts.
- Web site testing.
Required Qualifications & Experience
· Completion of a recognized Web Design program at a post secondary program of at least two years or greater. We have a great deal of respect for Red River College’s Digital Multimedia and Graphic Design programs in the Winnipeg area as an example.
· Effective oral and written communication skills to all levels of a small business organizational hierarchy.
- Ability to work well under pressure, performs and manages multiple tasks simultaneously, and meets deadlines.
- Ability to work independently will be essential as well as the ability and desire to make this situation your own, while showing the maturity of knowing great things are seldom created alone.
- We offer designers the choice of computers representing both Mac and Windows based tool sets and their various software programs. Presently we use programs such as the Adobe Creative Suite as well as Freehand. We work extensively in HTML and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) in the creation of the presentation layer of our web projects with very little Flash requirements. As well we work in the open source world of Linux, Apache, PHP, MySql or LAMP environment on the back end programming side.
- Ability to remain current on market, business and technological trends affecting Score’s solutions is essential to keeping pace with the rest of the strong team.
- You must be able to create files that can be sent out to customers with confidence. Our partners are important to us and we pride ourselves on sending them material they can work with effectively, often making sure to ask for feedback before pulling the trigger and hitting the send button.
- Desire to be involved in a close-knit informal small business setting functioning as part of a team. You want to come to work each day with a smile and leave with one daily having enjoyed the people you work with as well as the material you work on.
Assets
- Previous work in web design with back end constraints of Content Management Systems.
- Passion for the game of golf. Don’t worry about hitting it well, or at all, but understanding the fun that can be had chancing a little white ball would be a good thing.
- IT/IS education (please indicate in your resume any computer or technology related certifications/diplomas obtained)
- Previous usage of a Customer Relationship Management Software Solution or Time Tracking Software experience would make your day easier.
- Strong interest in technology and a passion for the Internet in particular. If you were stuck on a secluded island and would choose an Internet connection over food, well this could be the place for you!
- A sense of personal style that you like to have fun with.
- Creative experiences and enjoyment outside of work hours.
- Two years of past experience working in a web/graphics design setting.
Compensation

· Salary range of $27,500 – $36,000 dependent on qualifications and experience.
