BAR MANAGER


Job details:

Our client, conveniently located in downtown Thompson, Manitoba, features a 300 seat beverage room which hosts live entertainment nightly, plus a 90 seat lounge. The hotel also offers an on-site beer vendor which sells the largest variety of cold beer products in the region and is ranked in the top 10 for volume in Manitoba.

Reporting to the General Manager, the Bar Manager will be responsible for the overall management of the Beverage Room and Lounge and Vendor Operation including:

·         All aspects of budgeting including sales projections, beer and liquor, wine and cooler costs, inventory controls.

·         In depth knowledge of recruitment, training, scheduling, and dismissals to meet the required budgeted staffing needs of the designated areas in keeping with company HR practices.

·         In depth knowledge of proper bartending knowledge including mixology requirements for a diverse and dynamic menu.

·         Working with the Management team in the area of promotions and marketing.

·         High standards of customer service and satisfaction.

·         Conduct daily, weekly, monthly stock controls as per company policy

·         In depth knowledge of the Manitoba Liquor Commission and policies and law as well as Workplace Health and Safety Act.

·         “It’s Good Business” manager’s certification required.

·         Some mechanical ability would be an asset. 

The successful candidate will have a high school diploma, college diploma in administration, (additional schooling in food and beverage preferred).  General experience required in the following areas: food and beverage, sales, marketing operations and general administration.  A valid driver’s licence is preferred.  Management level -“It’s Good Business” Certification is required and WHMIS Certification is preferred. Experience working within a unionized environment is an asset.

 The ideal candidate will have the ability to manage multiple responsibilities, have a working knowledge of the hotel industry and suppliers.  You will have strong communication and comprehension skills combined with strong decision-making and problem solving skills.  Excellent interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated capacity to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds would be desirable.  You will be required to work shifts.
