Food Services Sales Representative

On behalf of our client, Mariner Neptune Fish and Seafood Company Ltd. we are currently recruiting Food Services Sales Representatives to join their team. Mariner Neptune is one of the largest wholesale fish, seafood and meat distributors in Canada. They supply quality products to grocery stores of all sizes, restaurants, hotels, hospitals, and other institutions across Canada. Mariner Neptune is uniquely positioned to support customers’ needs as a full-service distribution company at the forefront of the wholesale industry.

There are two (2) positions available to cover the Manitoba and Saskatchewan territories based in Winnipeg and Regina or Saskatoon. Reporting to the Partners, the Food Services Sales Representatives will be responsible for sourcing and developing new client relationships and business-to-business sales opportunities while promoting and selling the company’s products. They will be responsible for proactively identifying, prospecting and acquiring new customers through consistent networking and proactive business development activities. These will include gathering and analyzing current industry and market information to identify trends and sales opportunities and developing and executing sales and marketing strategies and plans. The ideal candidate will be able to manage a broad range of clients while striving to gain new business.

Key Accountabilities

  • Present, promote and sell products/services to existing and prospective customers
  • Establish, develop and maintain positive business and customer relationships
  • Perform cost-benefit and needs analysis of existing/potential customers
  • Service existing customers and ensure needs are continually met
  • Reach out to customer leads through cold calling
  • Expedite the resolution of customer problems and complaints to maximize satisfaction
  • Coordinate sales effort with team members and other departments
  • Analyze the territory/market’s potential, track sales and status reports
  • Provide management with reports on customer needs, problems, interests, competitive activities, and potential for new products and services.
  • Keep abreast of best practices and promotional trends


Skills & Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of sales experience in Food Service or Hospitality industry required
  • Proven ability to initiate business development/sales calls and follow up on prospects
  • Proven track record of building and maintaining strong customer relationships
  • Must be self-motivated and results-oriented
  • Strong customer service focus and account management skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), and negotiation skills  
  • Acceptable driving record, including a valid driver’s license and personal vehicle is required
