Seeking Sous Chefs And Line Cooks At Southwood Golf And Country Club

Manitoba’s oldest golf club, with the province’s newest golf course, Southwood Golf & Country Club (www.southwood.ca) is currently seeking qualified individuals as Sous Chef, Banquet Chefs, Line and Prep Cooks.

 

Reporting to the Executive Chef, the candidates will demonstrate success in being a part of and directing a culinary team, with a passion for the culinary arts. A “service” mindset is a requirement to provide support to other staff members as well as frequent interaction with club members.  

 

The successful candidate will assist the Executive Chef in all aspects of managing the kitchen and kitchen personnel, ensuring the quality preparation and presentation of all menu items and proper handling/storage of all food items. Compliance with Club standards, policies and procedures while meeting/exceeding financial goals and sanitation/health regulations. Recommends promotional ideas and procedural changes to enhance and measure quality.

 

Experience in Fine Dining, Casual Dining and Banquets is preferred. Effective decision making skills and the ability to work well in stressful and high-pressure situations. Must possess a passion for training, developing, and motivating an enthusiastic culinary team.

 

The ideal Sous Chef and Banquet Chef candidates will:

-       Supervise the kitchen on a day to day basis in the absence of the Executive Chef

-       Lead and inspire the brigade to ensure the kitchen runs smoothly at all times

-       Ensure service, presentation and consistency of food is compliant with standards.

-       Assist in training all kitchen personnel

-       Assist with scheduling the kitchen staff and rosters

-       Supervise workloads during shifts

-       Ensure that prep is done

-       Ensure that all kitchen equipment is looked after and well maintained

 

The ideal Line Cook and Prep Cook candidates will:

-       Follow Menu Recipes in preparation and execution phases

-       Moderate knife skills

-       Maintain a clean work space at all times

-       Follow good food handling techniques/ possession of Food Handler Certificate is an Asset

-       Follow direction of Executive Chef, Sous Chef or Banquet Chef

-       Passion for cooking

 

Compensation package commiserate with the successful candidate’s level of experience.
