Maintenance Superintendent
We are seeking talented individuals to join our Thunder Bay Operations team.

Full Relocation is provided for
Salary - 95,000-115,000 + Bonuses

Located on the shores of Lake Superior, Thunder Bay is a four-season outdoor paradise and is the region’s commercial, administrative, medical and transportation hub, providing the amenities of an urban center while opening the gateway to outdoor adventure in North-western Ontario.

Your challenges:
You are responsible for the leadership of the daily maintenance activities for the business unit assigned which includes paper, pulp or power. You will also provide guidance and expertise to the Site Maintenance team in the development and implementation of maintenance programs to ensure that overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) meets or exceeds established maintenance targets.

Your primary responsibilities will include the following:

Plan, schedule and coordinate maintenance activities, organize shutdowns and other major tasks;

Maintain liaison between the operations and maintenance departments;

Utilize the Maintenance & Supply Chain Best Practices in conjunction with the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for processing work orders, purchase requisitions, weekly schedules, PM's, and updating the equipment database;

Ensuring the availability of parts, materials (kitting as required) and special tools are available for the work order system

Facilitate weekly and daily planning meetings;

Coordinate and prioritize maintenance work with appropriate operations, maintenance, engineering, and safety staff;

Fully utilize current information, procedures, and work methods to positively impact equipment reliability;

Provide technical leadership as necessary to production and/or maintenance employees;

Demonstrate a full commitment to the safety process and policies, including the integration of safety into all planning functions;

Actively pursue measures that improve operational efficiency, cost reduction, and equipment reliability;

Maintain a good working relationship with management, staff, and hourly employees.

Your team:
Reporting to the Site Maintenance Manager, you will be part of a results-oriented team whose members are encouraged to exceed expectations.

Your profile:

Degree in Mechanical Engineering;

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 5 to 7 years of Pulp & Paper supervisory experience in unionized settings;

Strong maintenance background with demonstrated technical skills, including an ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.

Your skills and assets:

Excellent leadership ability, including an ability to work collaboratively across multiple functions;

Good communication skills (both verbal and written), an ability to recognize contributions, and can quickly build trust and respect;

Demonstrated ability to balance priorities that meet short and long-term objectives; uses organized and efficient work methods;

Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think “outside the box”

Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast paced working environment;

Ability to work under pressure within a team environment;

Computer literate; familiarity with CMMS and MS Project is an asset.
