Newsmill Production Manager – Thunder Bay Mill Operations
We are seeking a results driven individual to join our Thunder Bay Operations team.

Full Relocation is provided for
Salary:100,00-130,000 + Bonus+ Full Benefits
Located on the shores of Lake Superior, Thunder Bay is a four-season outdoor paradise and is the region’s commercial, administrative, medical and transportation hub, providing the amenities of an urban center while opening the gateway to outdoor adventure in North-western Ontario.
Your challenges:
The Newsmill Production Manager will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Newsmill Operating departments which include the #5 Paper Machine, Thermal Mechanical Pulp (TMP) and the Finishing departments respectively. The incumbent will ensure that established targets for production, quality, costs and safety are met or exceeded.
Your primary Responsibilities will include the following:

The Newsmill Production Manager will provide direction and support to department superintendents to ensure department performance targets are met as well as to interface with the sites other Operating and Maintenance departments to ensure the News Mills operations requirements are known and addressed in terms of the overall site performance

Develop and implement strategic plans for capital and maintenance spending, process optimization, and personnel development, to support the mills' short- and long-term objectives.

Develop and maintain a work environment with Unions and employees that promotes efficient work practices and conformance to the Collective Agreement, and all applicable policies and procedures

The candidate will maintain an active and open dialogue with their direct reports to promote safe work practices, efficient and effective productivity, product quality and equipment uptime, while focusing on the continuous improvement within the departments.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be part of a results-oriented team whose members are encouraged to exceed expectations.
Your profile:

The preferred candidate would possess an Engineering and / or an MBA degree, coupled with 7-10 years of experience within a Unionized industrial environment.

Excellent working knowledge of the paper making process preferred, with superior troubleshooting and leadership abilities required.

 Your skills and assets:

This leadership role demands sound decision making and negotiating skills and the ability to work in a fast past and structured environment.

Superior interpersonal skills required, including an ability to work collaboratively within all levels of the organization

Good communication skills with excellent strategic thinking skills

Demonstrated ability to balance priorities that meet short and long-term objectives;

Proficient analytical skills required as well as a strong background in MS Office.

The ideal candidate will possess the drive and passion to continuously improve upon the health and safety, efficiency, production and cost targets for the respective departments being managed.
