Chief Financial Officer

Our client is looking for a Chief Financial Officer to complement their executive leadership team as the company looks to steer sustainable immediate and long term growth. 

This individual will be a highly credible business partner who brings strong analytical, quantitative, and conceptual insights to drive decision making.  Proven experience in growing businesses through organic growth and corporate development initiatives will be an asset. The ideal CFO has a track record of effecting strategy to achieve desired business outcomes in manufacturing and logistics businesses with an on-line component.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Serve as a trusted adviser to the executive teams by means of a broad business experience and deep functional financial expertise.

Ensure the integrity of the selection, management, and oversight of third party suppliers of goods and services to maintain an uninterrupted supply of goods and related services necessary in the delivery of first quality, first time products to the company’s customer base at or above targeted margins.

Direct and monitor the creation and implementation of strategic business plans.

Develop financial and tax strategies in collaboration with the financial team of the company’s equity partners.

Professionally represent the company when dealing with external parties such as key customers, suppliers, advisers, regulators, and competitors. Ensure sub-contracted manufacturing compliance regulations are met or exceeded consistent with Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production (“WRAP”) or a similar regime.

Ensure that financial records are in compliance with regulatory requirements and accounting and financial practices within the industry.

Understand and anticipate the financial risks resulting from operating in various countries and ensure risk mitigation strategies and internal controls are in place to safeguard team members and assets.

Work with financial bodies to ensure banking and capital requirements are reliably foreseen and met.

Provide thoughts, opinions, and judgments as a member of the executive leadership team during the company’s planning processes (e.g. strategy and annual plan), mergers and acquisitions, etc.

Provide direction and leadership for the accounting, credit, and human resources functions.

Assess foreign exchange exposure, recommend any required hedging programs, and provide ongoing management thereof.

Maintain a focus on the long-term, macro-economic and demographic trends affecting the industry and keep abreast of competition, legislation, policies, and deliberations.

Partnering with the COO, lead all key decisions as a member of the executive team.

Monitor all open legal issues involving the company and legal issues affecting the industry.

Develop and implement corporate policies with respect to Intellectual Property (“IP”); responsible for ensuring that all business operating practices support the protection of WGW IP and do not infringe on the IP of third parties; assign and manage all external TM and copyright legal actions.

Negotiate all legal contracts on behalf of the company.

Oversee the issuance of all financial information.

Represent the business as required in the business community.




QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Accounting designation required

Undergraduate degree in Commerce or a related discipline required

Minimum of 10 years’ experience in accounting & finance

Minimum 5 years’ experience in a high level management position

Experience in strategic planning and execution

Apparel, consumer products, or related  industry experience would be an asset

Must have a strong business and legal acumen

Knowledge of contracting, negotiating, and change management

Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections

Must have an entrepreneurial mind with years of experience consulting and advising at an executive-level

Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills

Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight time frames and simultaneously manage several other projects
