Chief Executive Officer

Our Client has proudly served the insurance needs of customers across Manitoba for over 60 years. As an organization that has developed from a small family run organization to achieving impressive growth, our client is now seeking a strategic and talented leader to enter the new role of CEO. The CEO provides leadership and strategic direction to achieve and maintain the organization’s mission, vision and values.  Reporting to the President, the CEO is responsible for the financial health, performance, and the success of operations in all branches.  Internally, the CEO is focused on the continuous improvement of the organization’s business model and delivery in order to maximize productivity, revenue, profit, and shareholder value.  In addition, this position is responsible for leading strategic planning (in consultation with the President) for future growth and ongoing success.


Major Responsibilities:

  • Develop a strategic plan to advance the organization's mission and objectives that promotes and achieves revenue, profitability, and growth goals of all business lines (Commercial, Personal, Farm and Autopac); Ensure growth is achieved in a responsible, ethical and profitable manner.
  • Prepare annual budgets and monitor performance against the approved budgets 
  • Oversee business operations to ensure efficiency, exceptional customer service and cost-effective management of resources.
  • Work with the senior leadership team to satisfy customer needs, develop new and cultivate existing customers, partnerships, strategic alliances, and other market opportunities.
  • Direct financial and risk management initiatives; Provide guidance in the areas of corporate governance and regulatory compliance.
  • Approve operational procedures, policies, and standards.
  • Review sales reports and financial statements to evaluate progress in attaining objectives and revise current plans in accordance as required.
  • Provide high-level strategic and tactical leadership to the senior management team; provide guidance, development and training to direct reports and foster individual development.
  • Evaluate performance of direct reports; Hold direct reports accountable to achieve identified goals and objectives.
  • Act as an ambassador of the organization, ensuring it is well positioned in the insurance marketplace.
  • Motivate and maintain a high performance, innovative and results-driven organization.
  • Develop organizational performance measurements and ensure metrics are achieved.
  • Support and champion the values of the organization.
  • Other duties as required to achieve the vision, mission and objectives of the organization.



  • Previous senior executive experience required (industries connected to Insurance are considered a strong asset)
  • Post-secondary education in Business preferred (MBA is considered an asset).
  • Proven experience in strategic planning and execution.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Previous leadership of the IT function is a strong asset.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills; ability to lead, mentor and manage a senior leadership team, and develop and maintain strong working relationships both internally and externally.
  • Demonstrates a high level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability.
  • A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people leadership skills.
  • Strong understanding of operations, finance and management.  Capable of understanding and interpreting financial reporting.
  • A history or a demonstrated track record of success.
