We are a non-profit organization established in 1974, dedicated to meeting the residential, day program, respite, and foster care needs of youth and adults. We support people living in over 50 homes throughout Manitoba, and employ over 700 staff. The Opportunity
Reporting to the Senior Director of Operations, the Director of HR oversees the provision of human resource services including recruitment and selection, training and development, employee relations and performance management. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned HR Generalist with proven leadership expertise, a strategic presence, as well as the ability to take a hands-on approach when needed.

As a member of the senior executive team, develops and executes the strategic goals, human resource goals, and assists in the development of policies and procedures.

Develops human resources strategies including human resource planning to meet the current needs and forecast future needs.

Addresses potential organizational or recruitment issues that may emerge as a result of organizational changes.

Provides advice to staff at all levels of the organization on human resource policy and best practice and recommends appropriate courses of action.

Provides advice to management and oversees recruitment, selection, and development of staff to attract, hire, and retain a positive workforce.

Oversees performance management and progressive discipline practices to ensure a fair and productive workplace.

Ensures ongoing development of resources.

Achieves annual objectives as negotiated with the senior management team.

Maintains knowledge of new developments in departmental areas through journal reviews, interest groups, lectures, and committee work.

Takes a lead role in assigned projects.

Provides leadership and works collaboratively with the Management Team to address all human resource issues.

Bachelor’s degree in Commerce or Business Administration, ideally with an HR focus.

5-7 years HR experience

3 years senior leadership experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

Proven track record developing and implementing HR strategic initiatives

CHRP would be an asset


Superior interpersonal and organizational skills with an ability to communicate  effectively with employees, management, and external contacts

Knowledgeable in human rights and employment legislation and innovative best practices

A service oriented mentality and an ability to encourage the same quality and commitment to service in others

Able to coach, mentor, and empower others
