MANITOBA METIS FEDERATION INC. The Manitoba Metis Federation (MMF) is the self-government representative that promotes the political, social, cultural, and economic interests and rights of the Metis Nation’s Manitoba Metis Community. In addition, the MMF delivers programs and services to our community including: child and family services; justice; housing; youth; education; human resources; economic development and natural resources.  

The MMF seeks a Provincial Fisheries Coordinator at the Winnipeg Home Office to assist in the development and enhancement of the Commercial Fishing Industry towards increasing employment opportunities.  Annual remuneration $34,866.00 plus benefits. 

Provincial Fisheries Coordinator

 Working collaboratively with the Natural Resource team, the Provincial Fisheries Coordinator will be required to work with the Metis commercial fishers and act as a liaison between Natural resource staff and Metis fishers to conduct research and analysis on a broad range of commercial fisheries issues. The central task will be: to aid in the development of commercial fisheries policy options and recommendations based on extensive research and analysis; to present information and options to the Natural Resource Portfolio Chair or Natural Resource Coordinator/Director; and to develop planning options for policy implementation.  

Skills and Qualifications: ·Knowledge of Fisheries Structures, Bodies, Co-ops and Advisory Boards ·Knowledge of challenges faced by Fishers in the industry · Experience and understanding of how to best enhance and assist the industry ·  Knowledge of Stakeholders that are involved in the industry, for example Governments, FFMC · Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills ·  Working knowledge of Microsoft Office · Must provide an acceptable criminal records check
