Chief Operating Officer - Non Profit Organisation

The Opportunity
We are in search of a Chief Operating Officer (COO) who will provide managerial direction and leadership for the operations infrastructure that supports the broad spectrum of cancer control activities.  As a member of the executive leadership team, the COO will provide direction to all operational aspects of the agency including finance, information technology, health records, planning services, and facilities. This position will report directly to the President and Chief Executive Officer.

Responsibilities
Leadership and Managerial: Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values ethics, learning, and a commitment to quality.

Risk Management: Forecasting and evaluation of financial and operational risks together with the identification of procedures to avoid or minimize their impact.

Strategic & Operational Planning: Direct short-term and long-range planning and budget development to support strategic business goals.  Establish the performance goals, allocate resources, and assess policies for senior management. Demonstrate successful execution of business strategies.  Develop, establish, and direct execution of operating policies to support overall company policies and objectives.

Relationship Building: Maintain key relationships with external stakeholders and our Regional Health Partners. Develop new partnerships that will advance our strategic goals and objectives.

Experience & Education


Post-graduate education in Business, Engineering, Law, or other applicable field, and/or you have a recognized professional designation associated with a post-secondary degree (e.g. CA, CMA, CPA, LLB)

10 or more years of progressive management and leadership experience within a multi-disciplined environment with experience in a unionized workplace, with at least 3 years in an executive capacity

Superior organizational and time management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects at the same time without sacrificing quality of work;

Experience leading an organization that supports and or enables the attainment of operational objectives

Experience working with a Senior Management team providing strategic and operational direction to the organization as a whole;

Excellent oral and written communication skills, high level of attention to detail and creativity, strong writing, must be a confident communicator and presenter;

Knowledge and understanding of current trends in business development and organizational design;

Ability to function at both the strategic and tactical level in a fast-paced dynamic environment.

Energetic, driven, and collaborative leader who enjoys building strong and trusting relationships with others;

Strong mentoring and coaching skills, believing strongly in empowering your team;

Service oriented mentality encouraging the same quality and commitment to service in your teams.
