The Opportunity

This is a rewarding role for a seasoned leader with strong relationship and collaboration skills, who wishes to contribute to the betterment of Manitoba’s economy and workforce.  AMSC is seeking an Executive Director to implement a new strategic plan that delivers Shared Services, works with the Province to participate in the delivery of the Canada Manitoba Jobs Grant and facilitates the collection of Labour Market Information (LMI) in collaboration with industry sector associations and other key stakeholders.  The Board is willing to consider a flexible working schedule.

 

The Role

  • Manage the activities of AMSC
  • Oversee facility management  for 1000 Waverley and establish a satellite presence
  • Partner and work with Sector Councils in Manitoba to determine areas of support
  • Provide Sector Council support/best practice sharing
  • Identify/establish clusters/common projects (eg. LMI, administration, marketing, accounting, e-learning)
  • Responsible for the financial accountability for budgeting and managing funds and reporting to the Board of Directors
  • Explore and develop Shared Service options within AMSC network
  • Promote and represent AMSC through presentations to various entities (Chambers of Commerce, Post-Secondary Institutions, Canadian Society of Training and Development, etc.).

 

Selection Criteria

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma, or equivalent experience and professional development
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in industry or industry-facing roles related with progressively increased responsibilities for administering and managing programs and projects
  • Minimum 5 years leading change in organizations and systems
  • Influence leadership skills – able to lead effectively without authority
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, evidenced by a strong network
  • Ability to facilitate the development a strategic direction for AMSC, and to engage and mobilize others to support this direction
  • Evidence of effective collaboration and team management experience
