Agricultural Equipment Sourcing Specialist

We are a growing manufacturer of farm equipment and currently looking for a Strategic Sourcing Specialist, located in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The focus of this position will be on cost reduction at the corporate level for all of our facilities. Working closely with company buyers at all locations, the goal of this position is to find and develop new vendors, including vendors in developing economies, uncover opportunities to reduce cost by consolidating volumes and leveraging buying power.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:


Identify commodities/parts/components that have cost reduction opportunities


Identify and evaluate potential new sources


Request quotes from potential sources, analyze their capabilities, quality processes, financial stability, negotiate pricing, tooling costs, lead times, terms and conditions


Make recommendations to Management on new supplier development


Communicate requirements between Engineers, Buyers, Quality Control and potential Vendors


Manage relationship with overseas agents


Communicate and enforce quality requirements, minimum order quantities and on time deliveries with potential vendors


Must be able to travel internationally as required






Certification from PMAC or APICS will be considered an asset


Project and/or Program Management skills are an asset


Several years of experience purchasing within a manufacturing environment


Strong background in cost reduction and process improvement initiatives with demonstrated competence in negotiating


Ability to travel frequently both locally and internationally to trade shows and potential supplier visits


Must be highly effective at communicating with suppliers (multi-country and multicultural) and able to set short, mid and long term direction with peers


Demonstrated knowledge of contract law and its applications is considered a strong asset along with basic accounting principles


Knowledge of international trading and “Incoterms” is required




Computer skills in advanced Microsoft office suite. AS400 is an asset


Additional duties as required when requested by management
